The great advantage of SSC preparation is that the runway is long — two years. That is also the trap, because a long runway delays the start and pushes everything into a crushing final six months.

Split it into four phases

Class 9 is where the foundation is built

Much of class 10 mathematics and science stands on class 9 concepts. Arriving with gaps means spending class 10 filling them while the syllabus slips behind. Most students who do well in SSC had in fact done the work a year earlier.

How to take on a weak subject

1. The weakness is in chapters, not the subject — write down exactly which ones stick.
2. Fix the base for that chapter from the previous class’s book first.
3. Finish one chapter, drill it, then move to the next.
4. Show your work to a teacher at least once a week.

The habits that actually work

• Studying at a set time daily — regularity beats duration.
• Writing a summary in your own words at the end of a chapter.
• Collecting the questions you get wrong in a separate notebook.
• Practising a full paper against the clock.
• Keeping the practical notebook current all year.
