SSC Preparation — The Complete A+ Guide

An A+ is not magic — it is the result of a few plain habits: reading the textbook first, making your own notes, solving past board papers and revising regularly. Students who get an A+ do not study longer; they study the right things repeatedly.

A daily routine that actually works

A 5–6 hour routine you can keep up for a year beats a fantasy 12-hour plan you abandon in two days. Divide whatever time you have left after school and coaching.

TimeWhat to do
Early morning (1.5 hours)Your hardest subject — maths, physics or accounting
Afternoon (1.5 hours)Reading a new chapter and making notes
Evening (1.5 hours)Solving creative and MCQ questions
Night (30 minutes)A quick revision of the day’s work
One day a weekRevision only — nothing new

How to study so it sticks

  1. Read the textbook chapter yourself first — starting from a guide or coaching sheet never gives a complete picture.
  2. When you finish, close the book and write a one-page note in your own words. Copying from the book achieves nothing.
  3. Find and solve the last five years of board questions on that chapter — you will learn what kinds of question actually appear.
  4. Write your wrong answers in a separate “mistakes notebook” and read only that once a week.
  5. After finishing a chapter, teach it to someone — a friend, a sibling, even a wall. If you cannot explain it, you have not understood it.

The last three months

PeriodGoal
90–60 days outFinish the whole syllabus once; list your weak chapters
60–30 days outExtra time on weak chapters plus two model tests a week
30–10 days outOnly your own notes and mistakes notebook; one full model test a day
Last 10 daysRevise subject by subject following the routine; stop learning anything new

Picking up a new book or a new coaching sheet in the last ten days is the biggest mistake of all — it destroys confidence and muddles what you already knew.

The mistakes that cost the most marks

  • Reading only guides and notes instead of the textbook — stimulus-based questions expose this at once.
  • Leaving the practical notebook to the last minute — the commonest way to throw away 25 marks.
  • Leaving MCQ circles blank even though there is no negative marking.
  • Ending part (d) of a creative question without writing a judgement.
  • Practising without a clock — the main reason students run out of time in the hall.
  • Cutting sleep to study — poor sleep weakens memory, so less of what you read stays.
