Bank eligibility differs somewhat from other government jobs — more weight falls on your academic results (CGPA), and many posts require a degree in a specific subject. In the recent Bangladesh Bank assistant-director recruitment the application fee was BDT 200.
The general requirements
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Education | A bachelor’s or master’s degree, with some posts requiring a specific subject |
| Results | Many banks set a minimum CGPA or class, and a third class is usually not accepted |
| Age limit | Set in the circular and counted on a stated date |
| Application fee | Varies by post — BDT 200 in the recent assistant-director recruitment |
| How to apply | The bank’s or BIBM’s designated online portal |
Recruitment syllabuses, mark schemes, age limits and fees change from one circular to the next. Always cross-check against the current official circular before you apply.
The main posts
- Assistant Director (AD) — the most sought-after entry post at Bangladesh Bank, and the most fiercely contested.
- Officer (general) — the entry post at commercial banks, with the most vacancies in combined recruitment.
- Officer (cash) — cash handling and branch-level work.
- Senior officer — a post with experience or higher-qualification conditions.
- Specialist posts in IT, engineering, statistics, law and audit, requiring the relevant degree.
The application steps, and common mistakes
- Read the whole circular, especially eligibility, the age-count date and post-specific conditions.
- Apply on the designated portal and enter details exactly as on your certificates.
- Upload photo and signature in the exact sizes — the wrong size invalidates the application.
- Pay the fee within the deadline and keep the transaction details.
- Keep the application copy, user ID and PIN — you need them for the admit card.
The commonest mistake is applying without meeting the CGPA condition — a candidacy can be cancelled later even after a strong written performance.
