You cannot enter the hall without the admit card, which makes the day you receive it the important one — an error found then can still be corrected, an error found the night before cannot.

How it reaches you

The admit card goes from the board to the institution, and the institution hands it to students. It is not something you download individually — so stay away from links advertising an "admit card download". Anything outstanding on form fill-up or fees can hold it up, so settle those in advance.

What to check the moment you get it

1. The spelling of your name and your parents’ names — do they match your certificates exactly?
2. Date of birth — check it against your registration card.
3. Subjects and subject codes — the fourth subject code above all.
4. Roll and registration number.
5. The name and address of your centre.
6. The photograph and the seal — are they clear?

If you find an error

However small the error, report it to the relevant teacher or the exam section that same day, and put it in writing if you can. A wrong subject code is the most dangerous of all, because sitting the exam under one turns correction into a long and complicated process afterwards.

On exam day, and if it is lost

• Carry both the admit card and the registration card.
• Keep a photocopy and a photograph of it in advance.
• Keep it in a stiff file so it is not folded or wetted.
• If it is lost, tell the institution at once — do not delay.
