Business students often treat finance as another form of accounting, but the two ask different questions. Accounting asks "what happened and how do I record it"; finance asks "where will the money come from and where should it go".
What the book covers
The book covers the idea and sources of financing, the time value of money, risk and return, capital structure, types and functions of banks, the central bank, media of exchange and modern banking services. A large part of it is conceptual — read it, understand it, and being able to explain it in your own words is enough; long calculations are not required.

How it differs from accounting
Once that distinction is clear the method changes too: accounting is worked, finance is reasoned. A finance answer usually has to explain why, not only how much.
| Subject | The core question |
|---|---|
| Accounting | What happened, and how is it recorded |
| Finance | Where money comes from, and where it should go |

Frequently asked questions
No. Accounting asks what happened and how to record it; finance asks where money comes from and where it should go.
Less than in accounting. Much of it is conceptual — the core skill is explaining it in your own words.
Attach each concept to a real example from your own area — abstractions stay only when tied to something concrete.
