The first Bangla reader of secondary school — and what changes from primary.

Class 6 Bangla Book — Charupath

বাংলায় পড়তে চাও? দেখো: ষষ্ঠ শ্রেণির বাংলা বই — চারুপাঠ

The character of the Bangla book changes in class 6. In primary the pieces were short and simple; here they lengthen, the language grows harder, and for the first time you are asked to think about what the writer is saying.

What kind of writing it collects

Charupath collects both prose and verse, each followed by a glossary and exercises. The pieces are ordered so the difficulty of the language rises gradually — the early ones are comparatively easy, the later ones are not. That order is deliberate, so reading the book in sequence works better than dipping into it.

NCTB publishes one PDF for both versions of this subject, so there is a single link here.

What changes coming from primary

  • The pieces are longer — one reading no longer catches everything.
  • The glossary now genuinely matters and cannot be skipped.
  • Questions ask why, not only what happened.
  • Writing answers in your own words starts here.

How to use this book

  1. Read each piece once straight through without stopping.
  2. Then read it again with the glossary; it will be much clearer.
  3. Afterwards write the central point in two sentences of your own.
  4. Answer the exercises in your notebook, not in your head.
