Can we do experiments at home?

How to help at home

Plant a seed and note its height daily.
Have them write a prediction before the experiment.
When the result differs from the prediction, discuss that.
Keep the notebook rather than discarding it.

Let them predict first

Asking a child to predict before an experiment is a small thing with a large effect. Writing the prediction makes them invested in the result, and a wrong prediction is where the best learning happens — because then they want to know why. For a child who never predicted, the result is just another fact.
