Security and rural organisation — a uniformed force with a development side.

BCS Ansar Cadre

Ansar is a uniformed cadre, but its work is not confined to security. A large part of the force is organised at village level, trained there and engaged in development activity — so an officer’s duties come in two kinds.

The two halves of the duty

On the security side there is deploying embodied members at key installations and events, election duty and assisting in maintaining order. On the organisational side there is selecting and training members at village level, organising women members, and arranging self-employment training.

Training and the start of a career

Appointment is followed by force training covering discipline, drill, weapons handling and administrative procedure. Postings then come at district and upazila level, where an officer runs both the force and the office at the same time.

Who it suits

  • Someone comfortable in a disciplined, uniformed setting.
  • Someone fit and ready for the training.
  • Someone able to organise and train large numbers of people.
  • Someone willing to work at village level.

What to weigh on the list

For candidates who like a uniformed setting but are not drawn to the investigative core of policing, this is a realistic alternative. The variety is good — running a force on one side, rural training and organisation on the other — and many find that combination appealing.

The force’s structure, physical standards and embodiment policy are set by government decision; verify the current position from the official sites.
