What if I lose my registration card?

Apply to the board for a duplicate through your institution. This usually needs a general diary (GD) entry and a fee. Apply well before the exam.

Can I sit the exam without filling in the form?

No. Without form fill-up no admit card is issued, and without an admit card you cannot sit the exam. Complete it within the deadline.

Can I fill in the form late with a late fee?

Boards usually allow a short late-fee window after the main deadline. The dates and amount are announced in the board’s notice, so watch your institution’s noticeboard.

Registration and form fill-up are two separate steps. Registration happens after you enter Class 9 — that is when your name, date of birth, group and subjects go permanently onto the board’s records. Form fill-up happens towards the end of Class 10 and is what produces your admit card.

What you need

Your birth registration certificate — the spelling of your name and your date of birth are taken from it.
Your Class 8 result or a certificate from your institution.
Your parents’ names — they must match the birth registration exactly.
A recent passport-size photograph, as your institution specifies.
The prescribed fee, collected by your institution at the board’s rate.

Even a small error in your name or date of birth leads to a long certificate-correction process later. Have a parent check the registration form at least twice before it is submitted.

The form fill-up steps

When the board issues the form fill-up notice, your institution announces it along with the deadline.
Passing the selection (test) exam is mandatory — if you failed a subject, your institution decides what opportunity you get.
The institution enters each student’s details and subjects online on the board’s website.
You get a printed copy after entry — check your name, roll, registration, group and every subject code yourself.
Report any error at once; if it is correct, sign, submit and pay the prescribed fee.
Keep the fee receipt safe until the exams are over.

How to correct a mistake

Pin down exactly what is wrong — name, date of birth, subject code or group.
Contact your head teacher or the exam officer at your institution.
Fill in the board’s correction application form with photocopies of your birth registration and other proof.
Submit the application to the board through your institution — a fee may apply.
Once the board approves it, a corrected card is issued.
