Preliminary and written — how to read the syllabus of both stages.

Teacher Registration Syllabus

Before starting preparation it is worth reading the syllabus through once, because the exam runs in three stages and each stage tests something different.

The three stages

The preliminary is uniform in shape across levels and tests general knowledge, while at the written stage a candidate sits their own subject. Missing that distinction, many read the same books for both and arrive at the written stage unprepared.

WrittenSubject-based, written answers

How school and college level differ

Registration is held separately for school and college level, and the educational conditions for applying at college level differ. Whether a college-level certificate also allows school-level application is fixed by the terms of the circular, so confirm your own level before applying.

Where to put your weight in the preliminary

  • Bangla grammar — rule-based, so it returns the most.
  • English grammar — area-wise drilling improves fast.
  • Mathematics — chapter-wise practice brings it under control quickly.
  • General knowledge — give more time to the Bangladesh part.

What to read for the written stage

For the written stage the graduate-level textbooks of your own subject are the source. Guides help less here, because the paper probes subject depth and the answers have to be written in your own words. Taking the main text and making chapter notes from it is the most effective preparation.

The detailed syllabus split and conditions are published in the NTRCA circular — check the current one at ntrca.gov.bd.
