Mymensingh has one of the country’s newest education boards. Before it existed, colleges in this region came under the Dhaka board — and that older arrangement is still what countless websites, guidebooks and coaching notes say.

That makes the risk of wrong information higher here than in other cities during the season. An old page republished with only the year changed is hard to spot, and the error is not only in a date — it runs through which board to consult, where to check a result and where registration is handled.

The city itself is old and well established in education. As a university town it has a distinct study culture, and the district roster is substantial — several established government colleges inside the city, a separate commerce college and more than one residential institution.

Be extra sceptical of old information here. If a site or a note says Mymensingh colleges are under the Dhaka board, it predates the board’s creation — and the rest of that page is very likely just as old. Always take notices from your own board’s site.

Students from the division’s other districts — Jamalpur, Netrokona, Sherpur — also apply into the city, so the main colleges are genuinely contested. Keep at least one college low on the list where your result is clearly more than enough.

There is more than one residential institution here, which is a real advantage if you are coming from a distance. A place in one does not follow automatically from admission, though — ask the college about cost, capacity and how to apply before you enrol.

Class XI admission 2026-27 — the confirmed schedule

The 2026-27 admission policy was published on 24 August 2026, and applications open on 2 September 2026. A warning: many websites are still republishing last year's (2025-26) schedule as "2026-27" with only the year changed — those pages show applications opening in July, which is wrong for this cycle. Check the original notice on xiclassadmission.gov.bd before you apply.
