Chattogram’s college landscape is not Dhaka’s, and that is the single biggest advantage of applying here. In Dhaka a large share of the strongest colleges run their own entrance test; in Chattogram almost every well-known city college sits inside the central online application. The route into a good one is therefore singular: your SSC result and the order of your list.
The second feature is commerce. Being a port city, Chattogram has dedicated, long-established business-studies colleges — rare elsewhere in the country. In most cities commerce means a wing of a general college; here it is a destination in its own right rather than something you fall back on with a weaker result.
Third, Chattogram has an unusually high number of colleges run by the armed services and the cantonment boards. Their admission conventions and their discipline differ, and the conditions for entry are not identical across them — so read the institution’s own notice before you put one on your list.

How to use this list
The first job in Chattogram is separating the city from the upazilas. The district roster runs to nearly two hundred colleges, but a large share of them are at upazila level — the names do not tell you that, and whether you can actually commute there daily is the question that matters.
If commerce interests you, do not treat it as what you take with a weaker result. The city’s commerce colleges admit students with strong results, and a solid grounding in accounting and management leads straight into a university business faculty.
If you list a services or cantonment college, read its own rules first — dress, attendance and residence conditions are stricter than at an ordinary college. They are not a problem if you enrolled knowing them; they become one in the first month if you did not.

The 2026-27 admission policy was published on 24 August 2026, and applications open on 2 September 2026. A warning: many websites are still republishing last year's (2025-26) schedule as "2026-27" with only the year changed — those pages show applications opening in July, which is wrong for this cycle. Check the original notice on xiclassadmission.gov.bd before you apply.

The city’s main government colleges admit through the central online application — every name on this list was read from that central roster. Some private and services-run institutions apply their own screening, so check the institution’s notice in those cases.
Both are top government colleges with good results. The practical difference is competition — Chittagong College usually draws more pressure. If your result is not right at the top, listing both and treating Mohsin as the safer of the two is the realistic move.
You can. The central application is not limited by district or board — you can list a Chattogram college having passed from another board. What you have to plan for is accommodation, since not every city college has residential facilities.
