HSC registration demands more checking than SSC did, because it records not only your name and date of birth but the code of every subject and paper — and those codes are what you will sit the exam under two years later.

What must be verified

1. Your name and parents’ names — exactly as on the SSC certificate, not retyped from memory.
2. Date of birth — the SSC certificate is the decisive record here.
3. Group and every subject code — the ones you are actually studying.
4. The optional subject’s code — the commonest error.
5. The college name and the session.

The SSC certificate is the standard

Name and date of birth at HSC registration must come from the SSC certificate, not from memory or a national ID. Any mismatch between them surfaces here, and correcting it at this stage is far easier than later. Left alone, the mismatch is printed onto the HSC certificate too, and then the two certificates contradict each other.

Why a subject-code error is the worst

A wrong name is visible and gets caught. A wrong subject code is not — the numbers look alike, and the error emerges when the admit card arrives, sometimes only in the result. Correcting a result sat under the wrong code is a long and uncertain process, so check the codes with your subject teacher at registration time.

When the card arrives

• Check every detail against the SSC certificate again.
• Keep a photocopy and a scan separately.
• It is needed alongside the admit card at exam time.
• Report any error to the board through the college at once.
