An HSC result day is unlike any other, because checking the result is not the end of it — university admission applications open almost immediately and leave only days, not weeks.
The ways to check
In the first hour the sites are under load and slow. Using SMS or simply trying again a little later gets you there faster than repeated refreshing.
| Route | What you need |
|---|---|
| The board result portal | Roll, registration, board and year |
| The board website | The same information |
| SMS | The board short name and roll, in the set format |
| Your college | Nothing — the list is posted |
What to have ready on the day
- Write your roll and registration number down where you can see them.
- Keep enough balance on the phone for the SMS route.
- Have a second internet option available.
- Create a folder in advance for the marksheet download.
What to look at on the marksheet
Do not stop at the GPA. Look at the separate result for each subject’s 1st and 2nd paper, because university eligibility often depends on specific subject marks — in the science group, mathematics, physics and chemistry are frequently assessed individually. The English result is a condition in many places too.
What to do straight afterwards
- Download and save the marksheet — admission needs it.
- Check which universities you are eligible for.
- Put the application deadlines on one calendar.
- If you suspect a discrepancy, check the re-scrutiny window.
The date and method of publication are announced by board notice; follow your own board’s announcement.
