Application for Repair of the School Toilets
Model application to the headmaster for repair and regular cleaning of the school toilets.
A group application giving the numbers factually and asking for cleaning as well as repair.
How to write it
- Describe the condition factually and without distaste. The subject is unpleasant, and a restrained account is far more effective than an emotive one.
- Give numbers: how many toilets, how many working, how many students share them, and separately for girls.
- Name the consequences that matter — students avoiding water, girls missing school, illness — and attribute anything you have not seen yourself.
- Ask for specific repairs and, if relevant, for a regular cleaning arrangement rather than a one-off repair.

Subject: Application for repair of the school toilets.
Sir
With due respect, we the students of your school beg to state that of the six toilets on the premises, only two are now usable. Three have no running water, and the door of the fourth has been broken since the storm in June and cannot be closed. Some eight hundred students share the two that remain, and the two allotted to the girls are among those without water.
The effect is that many students avoid drinking water during school hours so as not to use them, and our class teacher has observed that several girls of Class IX are absent for a few days each month. We request that the water connection be restored to the three toilets, that the broken door be replaced, and that an arrangement be made for cleaning twice a day rather than once a week, since a repair alone will not last without it.
We, therefore, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to arrange the repair and regular cleaning of the school toilets and oblige thereby.
