A mathematics book cannot be learned by reading, only by solving. That single sentence is the whole method — ten problems a day beats one weekly session with the book by a distance.
The parts the book is built from
| Branch | What the chapters cover |
|---|---|
| Algebra | Sets, indices, logarithms, equations, factorisation |
| Geometry | Triangles, circles, quadrilaterals, constructions, theorems |
| Trigonometry | Ratios, distance and height |
| Mensuration | Area and volume |
| Statistics | Mean, median, mode, graphs |

Where students get stuck
The commonest problem is not in the chapters but in the foundation. If fractions, decimals and percentages are shaky, every algebra chapter feels hard and the student concludes they are weak at algebra. In that case going back a few weeks to the class 8 book is the fastest route, and nothing to be embarrassed about.
How to work through it
- Work the worked examples yourself before looking at the solution.
- Then every problem in the exercise — do not pick and choose.
- Mark what you could not do and try it again a week later.
- Practise geometry proofs by writing them out, not by reading them.
Frequently asked questions
Regularity matters more than volume — ten a day beats a hundred once a week.
The problem is usually the foundation. If fractions, decimals and percentages are weak, starting from the class 8 book is the fastest route.
The one for your medium. They are different books with different terminology, so a mismatch causes confusion later.
