Which area should I start with?

Right form of verb, because it appears on nearly every paper and understanding its rules makes several other areas easier.

Can prepositions be learned by rule?

Mostly not — they are held as fixed pairs. Learning a few pairs each day is the method that works.

Should I memorise the writing models?

Memorise the format, not the text. Topics change; the format of a letter or an email does not.

Drilling area by area

Random practice feels productive while leaving no area mastered. Take one area, condense that chapter’s rules onto a single page, then work at least fifty questions before moving on. Each step ends with something genuinely in hand, and that confidence makes the next one easier.

What the writing half needs

In the writing half the format carries a large share of the marks — a letter’s address and salutation, an email’s subject line, a story’s opening and resolution. The topic changes but the format does not, so memorising each format lets you write on an unfamiliar topic. The rest is language quality, which grows only by writing regularly.
