The class 6 science book is chiefly a book of observation. There are almost no formulas and little calculation — instead there is an attempt to build the habit of noticing things, asking about them and looking for causes.
The character of the book
The lessons begin from everyday experience and arrive at a scientific explanation — why something floats, why leaves are green, why it rains. That order matters: the phenomenon first, the explanation after. A student who memorises the explanation without ever having noticed the phenomenon ends up treating science as a list of facts.

Observation is the core skill
Actually doing the activities and experiments in the book is where its value is. Most need no apparatus — a glass of water, a spoon, a plant in the yard is enough. What you have done yourself no longer needs memorising, and that experience becomes the foundation for practical examinations in class 9.

- Before reading, look at the pictures and guess what the lesson is about.
- Actually do the activities rather than reading past them.
- Write each explanation in one sentence of your own.
- Ask about anything unclear at once.
