Number systems — the one part you must practise

Almost everything in ICT is read and retained; only number-system conversion has to be done by hand. Decimal to binary, binary to hexadecimal — working each conversion at least ten times yourself saves real minutes in the hall.

The questions here repeat their shape closely, so working the past papers is enough to make the pattern obvious.

Holding on to the terminology

ICT is dense with acronyms, and a large share of questions asks for their expansion and function. Build one list with the full form and a one-line explanation beside each — that list is what you will lean on in the final days.

• Draw the network topologies rather than memorising their names.
• Pair every protocol name with the job it does.
• Learn the attack types with an example each.

What to do if time is short

1. Practise number-system conversion — these are dependable marks.
2. Build the acronym list and revisit it often.
3. Condense networking and internet basics onto one page.
4. Work the past ICT questions as a separate set.
