Bangla in the Bank Written Exam
বাংলায় পড়তে চাও? দেখো: ব্যাংক লিখিত পরীক্ষার বাংলা
Many take the Bangla writing lightly because the language is their own. But knowing a language and writing organised Bangla into an exam script are not the same thing — and it is the second that the examiner reads.
The three writing tasks
| Task | The core demand |
|---|---|
| Composition | Introduction, body and conclusion |
| Summary | Capturing the core idea compactly |
| Letter or application | Formal format and courteous language |
One style, from start to finish
The error an examiner catches fastest is the mixing of সাধু and চলিত, the গুরুচণ্ডালী fault. A single sentence of that kind casts doubt over the whole script. চলিত is the standard in modern writing, so choose it and hold it to the last sentence.
How to write the summary
- Read the passage at least twice.
- Write the central idea in one sentence of your own.
- Drop the examples, similes and ornament.
- Finish at roughly a third of the original’s length.
- Do not paste quotations or the original’s sentences.
Errors an examiner spots at once
- Spelling, especially in ণ-ত্ব and ষ-ত্ব.
- Missing punctuation — long sentences without a comma.
- The same word repeating throughout.
- Writing in one unbroken block without paragraphs.
The tasks and marks in the Bangla section can differ between circulars; check the current one.
