Dialogue About Your Future Plan
Model dialogue between two students about their plans after the HSC examination.
Two students discuss which subject and which university they will choose after HSC, and why.
A dialogue between Arif and Jamil
Arif: Jamil, the HSC results will be out next month. Have you decided what you will do?
Jamil: I have been thinking of nothing else. I want to study Computer Science.
Arif: Any particular reason, or simply because everyone is going that way?
Jamil: A real reason. I built a small website for my father's shop last year and I enjoyed it more than anything I have done.
Arif: That is a good sign. Which universities will you sit for?
Jamil: BUET first, then the engineering cluster, and a private university as a fallback.
Arif: Have you started preparing for the admission test?
Jamil: Yes, mathematics and physics mainly. What about you, Arif?
Arif: I am going in a different direction. I want to study Bengali literature and eventually teach.
Jamil: Teaching? People will tell you there is no money in it.
Arif: They already have. But I have never been happier than when I explained a poem to my younger cousin and watched him understand it.
Jamil: Then you have chosen better than most of us. When do your forms open?
Arif: In three weeks. Shall we fill them together and check each other's work?
Jamil: Agreed. Let us meet at the library on Friday morning.
Frequently Asked Questions
A future plan is nearer and more practical: which subject, which institution, which examination, and when. An aim in life is about the eventual destination. A future-plan dialogue that never mentions a course or a test has drifted into the other topic.
No — it is better if they do not. Two different plans give the dialogue contrast and let each speaker ask real questions. A conversation in which both speakers agree about everything has nothing to develop.
With something the speakers will do together: filling forms, meeting at the library, sharing notes. A plan-based dialogue ending in a joint arrangement feels finished, while one ending in general good wishes simply stops.
